The Local Government Organisation responsible for overseeing Karratha’s camping and caravan sites has today implemented a new policy that has grey nomads and weekend warriors up in arms.
The City of Karratha recently passed a motion to install a $20 per week fee for any and all defecations made at any of their camping and caravanning sites throughout the region.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said whilst the fee is controversial, it will be a financial boon for the City.
“Since day dot the nomads have pummelled our long drops and toilet blocks with complete impunity,” Cr Scott said.
“That ends today. The City is taking this new poop tax incredibly seriously.”
He continued by informing our reporter how the new policy will be governed.
“It will be a tall task measuring and calculating who dropped what,” he admitted.
“But we’ve got an incredible team of committed rangers who have already started upskilling in human waste certs.”
“Every Monday a team member will be out to check your poop log sheet and will introduce an adult nappy mandate as they see fit.”
The news of the policy caused severe outrage among the regions travellers, with one rusted on Caravanner Les Muggins, 60, saying he will take a stand and defy the policy from the outset.
“Fucking Granny State,” He boomed over the sound of his large wireless radio that is set halfway between stations and producing nothing but white noise, not that he had noticed.
“I drove 1500 kms to come spend money in this town and this is how I get repaid? With a shit tax?”
“Sure I have a loose bowel after a good Bollywood Lounge session, but who doesn’t?”
A small but vocal part of the transient caravanning community that regularly sit on 90kmh in the 110 zone on NW Highway have banded together and have already received over 500 signatures on a petition to fight the new policy.
