Andrew Forrest reportedly let out a chuckle after lawyers informed him of the $150 million penalty he would have to pay for illegally operating a mine on land that wasn’t his.
The fine is equal to about 0.45% of Mr Forrest’s net worth, estimated to be approximately $33.5 billion.
It’s the equivalent to a bloke with $20,000 in the bank having to hand over $90.
Aboard his private helicopter, Mr Forrest reportedly sarcastically asked “would they like fries with that?” as he handed a signed, nine-figure cheque to his legal team.
The verdict, cheered by Indigenous Australians and their allies, and blasted by the capitalist class and those ignorant enough to believe themselves to be capitalists, was reportedly forgotten in time for lunch on Fremantle harbour.
“More bubbly!” Mr Forrest shouted to the waiter team, empty champagne flute raised above his head.
The team was overheard discussing sponsoring a new wind farm project to make this Yindjibarndi mess blow over.
“Get me The West Australian!” his press officer exclaimed.
“Dorey, you bloated fish of a man,” he said down the line to paper editor Christopher Dore. “Do I have a story for you!”
“That’s right,” he said, nodding. “A front page exclusive.”
