Karratha’s very first “small bar” Blanche is set to shut its doors at the end of 2024 after 12 years of operations, destined to rise out of the ashes as a burger joint under the same management.

The uninspired move has been repeatedly qualified with the fact that there will still be a sprawling drinks menu and patrons will be able to have a fun night out at the venue, confirming suspicions it will essentially be Blanche but with different coloured walls and burgers added to the menu.

What is unclear is whether chips will still cost $19.

A spokesperson from Stardeck, the hospitality group responsible for Blanche and multiple other expensive venues in the region, assured our reporter that this new iteration of Blanche will be revolutionary and much different.

“We are turning things on their head,” the spokesperson said.

“Blanche was a local institution for people looking to burn their weekly salary in a single evening.”

“This new venture will maintain that extortionate price point that people know and love, but now you will be able to eat a hamburger instead of fettuccine while you sip that $20 shot of vodka with soda water.”

Blanche Bar in its current state will bid farewell in a New Years Eve party. It closes its doors as the most awarded venue in the Pilbara, a harrowing fact that belies its reputation and can presumably only be for categories like ‘Most Expensive Pint’, ‘Most Awkward Dance Floor Placement’ or ‘Most Unrelatable Name For A Pub’.
