The Cook Government has announced it will be providing enough funding to Pilbara mining camps that they may soon be able to finally afford some of Gina or Twiggy’s choice beef for themselves.
$2.34 million was allocated to the Pilbara as part of the government’s Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF) aimed at supporting under-the-pump camp chefs with providing food to workers that’s actually edible.
Speaking to media out the front of Wildflower after a taxpayer-funded roundtable in Perth, Premier Roger Cook said it was a great step towards achieving the difficult goal of placating whiny FIFO workers.
“It is incredibly important we support our FIFO workers,” he declared.
“Yes, they get paid much more than the average punter in Australia. And yes, we already subsidise millions of dollars for their bosses mining exploration. And yes, the multinationals they work for provide nothing to Australia in exchange for pillaging our natural resources. “
“But, they should still be entitled to a medium-rare steak every once in a while!”
Critics of the announcement have been vocal about perhaps diverting the funding to ease the housing crisis without using the mining industry as a vehicle to do so. They were promptly told to suck eggs, get off their high horse and go work at Woolies if they’re so high and mighty.
