A local crackpot is insisting he saw the mythical green flash at sunset last night, and is threatening to fight anyone who doubts him.
“I swear on my nan’s life!” he told the Bugle.
Chris Reynolds, 22, said he was at Hearson’s Cove on the Burrup Peninsula at dusk when he witnessed an unmistakable green burst moments before the sun crossed over the horizon.
The green flash is a well reported phenomenon in WA’s north-west, with many people claiming to have witnessed it – though none of them ever happen to get a photo of it, ever.
It stands shoulder to shoulder in Australian folklore with other made up stuff, like the min min lights and the Bunyip.
“I was staring right at the horizon, you know at the sun, as it crossed over the water,” he told the Bugle.
“And then BANG! Like, I reckon, emerald, in the sky.”
The Bugle suggested Mr Reynolds might have been seeing green, but it wasn’t of the atmospheric type.
“Yeah right okay I’d had four cones while sitting in my car, but I was sharp as,” he insisted.
“They say it’s good luck and I’m part Irish so I reckon I’ve gotta get a lottery ticket aye haha.”
Mr Reynolds said he drove home after sunset (“I actually drive better after smoking some weed,” he told us) and went to post about it on Facebook, but got distracted by an AI video explaining the connection between Jeffrey Epstein and Anthony Albanese.
He fell asleep, covered in chip crumbs, twenty minutes later.
