It’s all become a bit much for Perth native Nicole Leighton, 22, who recently accepted her first big full time job up north and is set to shift her entire life above the 26th parallel.
Joining the ranks at one of the big mining employers, she has endlessly researched the lifestyle in Karratha in order to determine the vibe of the inhabitants, after hearing it can be a bit ‘cliquey’.
after scrubbing the entirety of social media under the search terms #Karratha, she has come to the conclusion that a big fork in the road stands before her: Become a BCFer that nails white eggs and loves the smell of diesel or adopt a more bohemian personality, buy an essential oils and healing crystals starter pack and become an apothecary.
“By the looks, these are the only two main identities for women in Karratha,” She said.
“I have yet to see an instagram reel that isn’t either a sunbaked woman in an Akubra holding a Red Emperor or a hippy in hessian pants talking about sound healing classes,”
“I do love the outdoors and camping, but I also like shaving my legs.”
Days out from her flight, Nicole was still torn on the decision, last seen practising reiki on herself while watching videos on how to properly use a snatch strap.
