Local Yogalates instructor Olive Kellaway, 32, is packing layers today as she prepares for a frosty sojourn south.

With Perth min temps well below her regular 25, she has been forced to clear the cobwebs off her neglected North Face jacket and is even considering gloves.

“Why do all of my city friends have to organise so much shit in Winter. I have almost forgotten what sub 20 degrees feels like.”

“I suggested perhaps doing the girls weekend up here this time and got crickets in the group chat. I mean, 28 degrees, clear skies, huge blokes in hi-vis. Nah let’s go down to Perth and freeze with the hordes of pipsqueak smooth palms vying for our attention. Honestly.”

Making the difficult decision between getting shafted on flight prices or stuck behind the last of the Grey Nomad Migration (GNM) on the way back up, Olive finally opted to drive down to spare her the embarrassment of getting on a commercial flight looking like she is headed to the Swiss Alps.
